Meetings, Orientations, and Reviews

Print this page

From the moment you make the decision to purchase your new Davidson and Jones home, you’ll become intimately involved in the construction process. Meetings with our staff will occur at important stages of the planning and building schedule, and we will be personally available to answer your questions, assist you with decisions and selections, and assure your satisfaction during every phase of construction. After you have occupied your DJ Home, we will work closely with you to identify and correct any issues with workmanship, materials, or warranty-related problems in your home.

Several of the following meetings are not applicable to every DJ Home purchase, as in the case of a home under construction or completed. However, no matter the stage of completion at which you purchase your new home, we will conduct orientations and reviews with you as detailed in the following schedule.

Plan Review and Selections Meeting

Within a week of completion of all sales documentation for your new DJ Home, we will schedule our first meeting with you to review plans for your home, discuss the upcoming meeting schedules, and to select materials, colors, flooring, cabinetry and countertops, appliances and other fixtures and options. You are strongly encouraged to prepare for this meeting by studying the “Builder’s Standard Features” listing and having in mind the colors and materials you desire for your home. You will generally be given around one week to finalize your customized selections, and once you sign off on the selections document, work will begin on personalizing your new home. It is important for you to be certain the choices you make are final, as any changes in selections after the sign off date will most likely affect the construction schedule, and possibly incur an internal “Change Order” and accompanying fee.

Pre-Drywall Orientation

Soon after your home’s framing and roofing have been completed, you will meet with a DJ Homes Project Manager or Superintendent to get your first look at how the home is built and see many of the home’s hidden benefits and components before they are covered with sheetrock. You will also confirm structural details, the floorplan for the home, and take part in the electrical walk-through to assure correct locations for electrical outlets, telephone/data ports, lighting, and other elements. After the orientation and confirmation of details, you will sign off on this building phase, and your new home’s construction will move into the finish stage.

Pre-Closing Orientation

One to two weeks prior to closing on your new DJ Home, we will meet with you again for the second scheduled orientation, allowing us to confirm that all your personal selections and options have been executed or scheduled, and that all items and workmanship within your home meet your expectations. We want to make certain that your new home is ready and waiting for you on closing day, and most importantly, to assure your total satisfaction prior to finalizing the sales process.

New Home Orientation

At closing time, a DJ Homes representative will meet with you in your new home to familiarize you with the mechanical and electrical systems, appliances, and other components. This meeting will also serve as the final approval date for any changes, repairs or adjustments. We’ll point out maintenance tips, and answer your questions about your DJ Home and make certain you are comfortable as you prepare to move in.

During this meeting, you will also receive your DJ Homeowner’s Manual, which will contain details about our DJ Homes 360° Warranty, new product warranties, important contacts, and other home and community information.

Ninety Day Review

This review is your first post-closing meeting with your DJ Homes representative, designed to allow you to address any adjustments or potential warranty related issues which may need our attention.

Twelve Month Review

After you have occupied your new DJ Home for a complete cycle of seasons, we will meet once again with you to review your homebuying experience and make any adjustments that may be necessary.

Within your DJ Homeowner’s Manual, you will find Warranty Request Forms for both the Thirty Day Review and the Twelve Month Review. It is your responsibility to forward to us these forms, which will detail any items you feel need our attention, prior to our scheduling the reviews with you. If you need copies of the forms, please contact us and we will make sure you receive them.

As with any new home, there could be potential issues which need our prompt attention between Review dates. If you have an emergency, please check your DJ Homeowner’s Manual to find the appropriate contact to rectify the situation. If you need our assistance, please feel free to contact us during usual working hours and we will do everything possible to satisfy your request. At your New Home Orientation, you will be given the contact information for a DJ Homes representative you may contact after hours for true emergency situations.

Your total satisfaction with your new Davidson and Jones home is our ultimate goal and commitment. To that end, we have initiated this series of meetings and reviews to make certain you feel a part of the construction process, and to address your concerns. If at any time you feel you need further attention or answers to your concerns and questions, or have issues that remain unresolved, you may contact our offices and arrange a meeting with a DJ Homes management associate to discuss your individual situation and assure your continued pleasure in your new home and community.
